Libraries serving avid numismatists might find this re-worked 1929 documentary--which shows Laura Gardin Fraser creating a medal for the National Sculpture Society to give for its special Medal of Honor--useful. Modern narration, provided by a former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver, explains each step in the process, from the creation of the original sculpture to the striking of the medal. The topic is specialized and the black-and-white footage might put off school students, but libraries with extensive fine arts collections (as well as coin collectors) might want to consider. Recommended, with reservations. Aud: H, C, P. (R. Reagan)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
