After years of being a pushy, loudmouthed malcontent, golfer Sergio Garcia appeared poised to replace whining with winning. After three days and an equal number of magnificent matches, Garcia had dusted returning champion Tiger Woods and seemed to be well on the way to winning one of golf's most difficult major competitions. All Garcia had to do was continue his conquest of Scotland's Carnoustie course on the final day: Sunday. For those unfamiliar with what happened next, The Open Championship: The 2007 Official Film captures Garcia's meltdown, followed by the eventual playoff with Irishman Padraig Harrington. In addition to highlighting the players and personalities that make this annual golf outing such a spectacle, this excellent film provides an up close and personal look at the play, while also sharing numerous insights into the tournament itself on topics ranging from grounds-keeping to the publicity machine. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (B. Gibron)
