What would life be like with Tourette Syndrome? Developed by 10 teens with TS, The Real World of Tourette Syndrome combines an overview of this neurological disorder, which is mainly characterized by involuntary tics and sounds (including uncontrollable profanity) with a glimpse into the daily lives of those afflicted with Tourette's. Primarily intended to encourage acceptance of TS students by their peers, the program features comments from the teens, their friends and family, and a few medical experts. Although sincere, the video is unfortunately not very focused, and it suffers from distracting graphic effects and bad audio in places; however, the accompanying guide provides a wealth of TS information and ideas for classroom discussion, making this a strong optional purchase, overall. [Note: You've Got a Friend, a companion volume about Tourette Syndrome aimed at younger viewers, is also newly available.] Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
