This is a pleasant scenic tour of some of the oldest towns and villages in Southern Germany. In 2000-year-old Augsburg, founded by Augustus, viewers get a colorful taste of the eating, drinking, dancing, and singing festivities that mark their annual festival. In lovely Rotherburg, the camera lingers on the imposing St. George's Fountain--with its sculpture of the famous mythological battle--and takes a peek inside St. Jacob's Church, a monumental edifice some 200 years in construction. In addition, viewers are given a close-up look at the fairy tale towers of Neuschwanstein, the half-timbered houses of Dinkelsbuhl, the Gothic churches of Nordlingen, as well as stops in Wurzberg and a Shangri-La in the Alps: Fussen. A nicely done program, which showcases the wonderful structures of Germany's medieval past. Recommended.
