Pregnant moms and their partners crave information and reassurance about every stage of the natal journey, and the incredibly well-produced The Stages of Labor will provide both when it comes to the subject of delivery. Starting with pre-labor signs, the program takes viewers through the three stages of actual labor, including delivery, using excellent graphics accompanied by explanatory narration and short interviews with parents. The video also features some graphic footage of babies being born and the placenta following, but this kind of honest knowledge is exactly what expectant parents want. While the information is complete and expertly presented, the price is a real stretch for public library budgets. Highly recommended for those who can afford it. Others may want to consider recent lower-priced alternatives, such as The Baby System: Pregnancy and Birth (VL-7/98). Aud: P. (E. Druda)

All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
