Narrated by Robert Redford, The Sun Dagger is an intriguing story about artist Anna Sofaer who, while exploring in the Chaco Canyon came upon a strange spiral pattern carved into the rock high upon a butte behind a set of rock slabs. She eventually discovered that a "dagger" of sunlight cut through the center of the spiral carving at the solstice. Initially dismissed by the scientific community, Anna would eventually provide compelling evidence to the erstwhile skeptical scientists that the celestial calendar used by the Anasazi people over 1,000 years ago not only tracked the movements of the sun, but also of the moon. The newly revealed accomplishments of the ancient Anasazi are remarkable indeed, as is the story of one woman's persistence, the artist Anna Sofaer. Highly recommended.
