Can the same audience who laughed at the zipper scene in There's Something About Mary find happiness in the simple physical pain and comedy of a good eye-poke, finger-bite or round the world bonk on the head, Three Stooges style? You bet your backside-sitting-on-a-hot-iron they can, and uproariously so. During the 'speed of light' narration of this total 'happy talk' tribute, viewers see archival TV and film footage, home movie snippets, and a grocery list of dates and places in the quick disbursal of facts about the Six Stooges--Moe, Larry, Curley, Shemp, Joe, and Curley Joe...minus the wit or humor that was their trademark. I don't want to get off on a rant here, but in the age of the Dennis Miller cynic, if comedy can still be slip-on-a-banana-peel funny (and I think it can), then the caretakers of our comedic cultural heritage ought to take the time to make a heartfelt bona fide homage highlighting the genius and spirit of these boys. This assemblage of facts is purely optional. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
