True to its title, this program features plenty of unbelievably disgusting images to bolster its strong anti-tobacco message, but it also sports an engaging storyline and a sense of humor, while successfully avoiding being preachy. Non-smokers Josie and Kailee are watching the final cut of their video project for health class along with Miguel, a casual smoker (“I just have a few puffs after school”) who steadily grows more agitated as he sees more and more nausea-inducing images and learns the real facts about smoking. Other friends stop by—an addicted smoker who thinks smoking is glamorous, an ex-smoker who quit after he realized it was having negative effects on his body, and another who uses smokeless tobacco—with each character's arrival signaling an opportunity to debunk various tobacco myths, address long and short-term consequences, and touch on tobacco's financial and even emotional costs. The format of having teens engaging in open dialogue with friends will help draw the target audience into the material, as will the “totally disgusting gross out” pictures (seriously, do not even think about eating before watching this). Highly recommended. Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)
