The Travel Magazine: California Traveler; The Travel Magazine: Canada 2--Vancouver, Calgary, Banff; The Travel Magazine: Germany--Captivating Villages

From award-winning producer Jake DeBoer, these three programs from The Travel Magazine series which originally aired on television offer an overview and sample highlights of each of their respective areas. California Traveler is not a guide to California, per se, but rather a look at San Francisco and San Diego. In addition to the standard S.F. attractions (Chinatown, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf), the program journeys out to the Napa Valley to visit the vineyards. The section on San Diego, likewise, includes day trips to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. The commercial element is a little above average here, in that some hotel owners are interviewed regarding the cities' offerings, and a few words about the accommodations are naturally thrown in. Canada 2: Vancouver, Calgary & Banff uses a similar format with similar "infomercial" interviews with hotel owners, while touring the aquarium, Stanley Park, and the B.C. Stadium in Vancouver; visiting the Calgary Rodeo in Calgary, and looking at the impressive natural beauty of Banff. Germany: Captivating Villages uses a trip down the Rhine River (with accompanying information about Rhine Cruises) as a means of exploring the quaint medieval villages nestled in the Rhine Valley. Additional sights include violin and cuckoo clock makers in the Black Forest. Compared to the many excellent lower-priced travel tapes available on the market currently, these tapes are neither as good nor as economical. Not recommended.
