Twice daily the Pacific Ocean pulls away from the land, briefly exposing marine creatures that dwell in what is called the intertidal zone. Equipped to live underwater, they must also survive during the period when they are exposed to air. The abundant animal and plant life, as well as the ways they have adapted to "life in a tough neighborhood" are photographed here in vivid, exquisite color, bolstered by easy-to-read graphics and accompanied by an upbeat commentary. The program concludes with a brief lesson in "tidepool etiquette." Lively and appealing, this is warmly recommended for young audiences (and their parents!). Aud: I, J, P. (J. Reed)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
