I confess that I'm not a terribly big fan of the great American pastime of baseball (also called "spit and scratch"), and highlights reels don't exactly (to mix sports metaphors) bowl me over. Assembled from twenty years of the show This Week in Baseball, the highlights presented here are, admittedly, some real biggies. Jim Abbott (born without a right hand) pitching a no-hitter, Cal Ripken's amazing record-breaking hit and subsequent run around the ballpark, and Pete Rose's outfield fly ball which brought him to first base (and the record for most base hits). Narrated by former Reds catcher Johnny Bench, with a lot of play-by-play from the late "voice of baseball" Mel Allen, this will probably appeal to fans, but Ken Burns' Baseball it ain't. Optional.
