Ultimate Crop Circles: Signs From Space?

Participants Colin Andrews and Peter Robbins are described as a “renowned crop circle expert” and a “best-selling author and UFO researcher,” respectively, on the cover for this serious-minded exploration of the phenomenon of crop circles that is sure to be of interest given the recent Mel Gibson blockbuster Signs. As the hosts ramble on for nearly two hours, skeptics may find their interest flagging, but true believers and sympathetic souls will be entertained and enlightened. Crop circles (which also come in other shapes) range from fairly simple to complexly detailed, but determining how they are created remains elusive. While the program acknowledges that some crop circles are manmade, it also maintains that others are mysterious--strange formations that contain no paths leading in or out, or illustrate sophisticated mathematical equations, or feature strange electromagnetic signatures--suggesting a paranormal force at work. Interweaving archival footage and stills with scientific commentary and speculation (not to mention ubiquitous charges of CIA cover-up), this DVD features several extras, including various photo galleries with voiceover commentary. All in all, this program is unlikely to change viewers' minds about crop circles--pro or con--but most would have to agree that they make great illustrations for calendars. Optional. Aud: P. (M.
