Understanding Weather

This straightforward, practical program is intended to help viewers understand weather and learn how to interpret meteorological information. For some of us, having this kind of knowledge is just a matter of convenience, but for others—especially those whose livelihoods depend on weather-related factors, such as farmers, airplane pilots, and construction workers—it can be a matter of staying in business or even survival. Each of the short segments here is introduced by a friendly young host, after which relevant material is presented—from types of clouds to exploring air pressure systems—through a combination of live-action footage, informative graphics, and onscreen vocabulary. Understanding Weather also provides helpful information related to forecasting, not just through reading weather maps or a barometer, but also by observing local signs in nature.
