“Market to fans of Blink 182, NOFX, Foo Fighters, Less Than Jake,” says the promo material accompanying this entry from the Music in High Places series, which presents various artists playing acoustically in exotic locales. Previously unknown to this reviewer, San Diego's Unwritten Law are a competent (just barely, in the case of singer Scott Russo) but hardly extraordinary five-piece group, with some appealing tunes and an amiable slacker attitude. Here we find them playing amidst the sensational beauty of Yellowstone National Park (you know: Old Faithful, bison wandering around, that sort of vibe), as well as in the middle of a Wyoming rodeo area (surrounded by lots o' bulls and horses), in a local bar, and elsewhere; there's also a nice jam with some local Crow tribal members. Part travelogue, part concert, this DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1-backed program is all just fine, but the truth is that most of it--especially the two accompanying featurettes--will appeal mainly to hardcore fans.
