Have you ever wondered exactly what a wildlife biologist does? Chronicling the efforts of biologists to preserve the Vancouver Island marmot--the rarest animal in North America, with less than 100 remaining--this program offers an excellent glimpse into their work. Biologists must observe, chart, trap, and tag the little furry rodents since a captive breeding program seems to be their only hope for survival. Good production values (it's rather skillfully shot, considering marmots are not only rare but also small and quick) keep this video from becoming a boring plug for environmental awareness, while pertinent interviews and factual information are creatively presented. Recommended, especially for students considering a career as a wildlife biologist. Aud: J, H, P. (E. Gieschen)
