When a young otherworldly star traveler notices a signal from one of the Earth's weather satellites, he decides to check it out, and--with the aid of a goofy meteorologist and some of his weather-minded friends--ends up sharing with viewers some weather basics. Since changes in weather are generally the result of changes in the air, we're told that some kind of atmosphere is a good prerequisite for weather. In addition, temperature is explained as a catalyst for rising and falling air currents, which, in turn, causes wind, and plays a significant role in the water cycle. Despite the generally lower-budget look to this video, the information is presented in a creative, articulate way without being boring or patronizing. The excellent examples and illustrations make it easy to follow, provoking that "ooooooh!" lightbulb-over-the-head response. Recommended. Aud: E, I, P. (E. Gieschen)
