Speed, meth, crank, crystal, glass…whatever you choose to call methamphetamine, it's still a dangerous, devastating illegal drug with severe personal health and environmental consequences. What's Wrong with Methamphetamines is a narration-less video firmly in the "horror-stories-intercut-with-grim-professionals" genre of anti-drug programs, featuring interviews with young recovering addicts, convicted felons who were addicts, and healthcare and law enforcement professionals. While the interviews are honest and compelling, however, the scare tactic slant sometimes is over the top (a sampling of visuals include a brain in flames, a costumed grim reaper, and an eerie jail interior). Ultimately, while there's nothing necessarily flawed about this program, there's also really nothing that sets it apart. Optional. An older but better value here might be Drug Wars: Crank County (VL-1/98). Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)
