To answer the question in the title, Patagonia is the southernmost part of South America and is comprised of two countries, Argentina and Chile. It's a rugged land that is just becoming popular with tourists looking for a truly out-of-the-way place to visit. Parts of it look like the California desert, while other sections have scenery that looks as if it were transplanted from Switzerland. Ken Armstrong serves as the tour guide and does an admirable job in explaining the various boundaries of Patagonia, the wildlife to be found there, the economic condition of the region, and the historical background of this remote area. Excerpts from journals written by Charles Darwin on his historic Beagle voyage offer valuable insight into how Patagonia appeared to the eye of a naturalist. This is a beautifully made video on a part of the world little known to most people, but which has the potential of being a major destination for tourists looking for something special in the way of travel.
