The story of Moses and the Exodus has long puzzled archeologists. Did the Hebrew people really live in Egypt? What caused the plagues? Did the parting of the Red Sea leave any traces? Where is the Mountain of God? Scripture tells us that Moses was chosen to lead the Hebrews from captivity to a land of milk and honey, but until recently no trace of a mass migration had been found in the vast expanse of the Sinai desert. Today, new archeological discoveries lend credence to the Biblical accounts of the bondage of the Hebrews, Moses' upbringing in Pharaoh's palace, the plagues, the parting of the sea and the presentation of the ten commandments. Although these findings gradually form a body of evidence, the views of skeptics are also presented, making this BBC production well-balanced. The Bible remains the foundation of faith for two-thirds of the world's population; now it has been rediscovered as a tool for unearthing history. Recommended. Aud: H, P. (J. Reed)
