You've undoubtedly seen their work—now you can experience the lives of a pair of renowned wildlife photographers through this richly filmed slice-of-life documentary, directed by Jean-Thomas Renaud. Featured are Christine and Michel Denis-Huot, a French duo who are also residents of Kenya, where they capture the art of nature for magazines and other publications worldwide. Many photographers wear a special vest to hold needed tools and supplies; this couple boasts a heavily customized SUV, which provides not only the perfect perch for their shots, but also transportation, a digital photo lab, and a safe place to sleep (a pop-up tent atop the vehicle) during their multi-week forays into the backcountry. As expected, there is wildlife aplenty—much of it captured from the perspective of the film unit accompanying the two on this adventure—with spectacular footage of lions, leopards, hippos, giraffes, elephants, zebras, pythons, and birds. A considerable amount of the drama here revolves around the never-ending dance between predator and prey, but equally fascinating is how Christine and Michel live and do their work—a job requiring planning, patience, anticipation, a love for the natural world, the best equipment, and top-notch skills. DVD extras include an extensive photo gallery of the couple's back catalog. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (C. Block)
