Will You Carry the Light?

At the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Illinois, five hundred teens gathered to share their faith. Not a convention, retreat, vacation, workshop or rally exactly, but a little bit of each, Will You Carry the Light? offers a record of this three day pilgrimage in which culturally diverse young people comment on their experiences and participate in various activities. As they pack up, the teens share their thoughts on what they've learned and the program concludes with a procession of kids carrying candles as symbols of the Holy Spirit within them. Lively and well constructed, with a strong original music score by Tony Martinez, this program provides fine inspiration for young people seeking religious community. Still, while the message is appropriate for all Christians, the participants all appear to be Roman Catholics, so consider this an optional purchase where appropriate. Aud: H, P. (J. Reed)
