Narrated by Cliff Robertson, this sweeping six-part history gives even-handed treatment to the growth of the religious right and their concerns from 1950-1994, and includes interviews with the Reverend Jerry Falwell, Phyllis Schafly, and Charles Colson, among many others. We watched the opener, which traced the religious leaders rising interest in political and humane matters (including the civil rights movement) and the shock over the Supreme Court decision in 1962 which outlawed prayer in schools. Following the latter, deeply religious people felt politically disenfranchised, and soon found a home with conservative Republicans (beginning with the 1964 Goldwater campaign) where they've flourished ever since. Sure to spark debate among viewers. Highly recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (R. Pitman)
