Reuben Snake was a Winnebago leader who served the people his entire life. In his case, "people" can mean all Americans (he was a Green Beret), including the indigenous tribes. He served as Winnebago Tribal Chairman, President of the National Congress of American Indians, was instrumental in forming the American Indian Ritual Object Repatriation Foundation, and established the Native American Religious Freedom Project. He was an activist, a leader in A.A., a storyteller, folk philosopher and a deeply spiritual man. This tape is a patchwork of interviews, taped lectures, and mottoes of the man one interviewee likens to Martin Luther King Jr. There is some repetition due to the limited amount of video of Snake which exists (including much amateur videography). The tape is dedicated to the youth of all Indian nations, but Snake is certainly a role model for everyone. Recommended. Aud: H, C, P. (R. Reagan)
