Returning to East Great Falls, MI, for their 13th high school reunion, Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) and his wife, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), reconnect with the libidinous gang. Stifler (Seann William Scott) works as a law firm temp and still lives with his seductive mom (Jennifer Coolidge), while successful Oz (Chris Klein) has become a minor celebrity, hosting a cable TV sports show after losing a dance contest to Gilbert Gottfried. Showing off his supermodel girlfriend (Katrina Bowden), Oz runs into his first love, Heather (Mena Suvari). Not surprisingly, things have changed. While Jim and Michelle's sexual relationship used to be steamy, having to deal with their two-year-old son has taken its toll. Jim's frustration becomes obvious when he sees the once-girl-next-door (Ali Cobrin)—now almost 18—who is eager to lose her virginity with her virtuous former babysitter. Married Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) reignites an old flame with Vicky (Tara Reid), while adventurous Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), who once had a thing with Stifler's mom, now leads a well-traveled bohemian life. Also on hand are sexy Selena (Dania Ramirez), Jim's lonely widower dad (Eugene Levy), and Chad Ochocinco as himself. For this latest installment in the American Pie series, co-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg stick with repetitive, tried-and-true Class of '99 jokes. Is it crass, crude and vulgar? Without question—cue sex-starved Stifler defecating in a beer-cooler. Will there be yet another gross sequel? Probably. Optional, at best. [Note: DVD/Blu-ray extras include audio commentary by filmmakers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, “The ‘Reunion' Reunion: Re-Launching the Series” featurette (11 min.), deleted scenes (8 min.), a gag reel (4 min.), “Jim's Dad” with Eugene Levy (3 min.), an “Ouch! My Balls!” featurette (2 min.), and trailers. Exclusive to the Blu-ray release are an “Out of Control” pop-up commentary track, extended scenes (27 min.), a “Lake Bake” segment (5 min.), “The Best of Biggs: Hangin' with Jason B.” (4 min.), alternate takes (4 min.), “American Gonad-iators: The Fight Scene” (4 min.), “Dancing with the Oz” with Chris Klein (3 min.), an interactive yearbook, and bonus DVD, digital, and UltraViolet copies of the film. Bottom line: an expansive extras package for a so-so franchise entry.] (S. Granger)
