Cate Blanchett is more brilliant than ever as a dazed, vulnerably sexy and completely unstable frustrated housewife who latches on to a pair of resourceful serial bank robbers in this whimsical caper comedy from director Barry Levinson. Conspicuously charming Bruce Willis and precariously nervous hypochondriac Billy Bob Thornton are amusingly winning as the criminals, both of whom fall for Blanchett, leading to a hilarious roundelay of romantic contention. Superb performances, surprising depth and layer upon layer of droll, vivacious joviality make up for overly sincere tender moments and a grossly implausible ending. Recommended. (R. Bottom line: this amiable crime caper film makes a welcome debut on Blu-ray.]
