With nary an elephant in sight, there is still plenty of dung to go around in this two-legged circus--and a lot of pointlessly complicated twists and double-cum-triple crosses, as well. John Hannah (the bereft gay lover in Three Weddings and a Funeral) and his wife Lily (fetching Famke Jannsen) plan to pull off one last job before happily retiring from a life of crime. Too bad they must first cross paths with a despicable casino owner named Bruno (Brian Conley), who, in an interrogation scene reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs and Mike Tyson's infamous proclivity, bites part of his crooked accountant's ear off. The assumed catch here is that the characters aren't who they seem, but since just about everybody is unambiguously unlikable and uninteresting, it doesn't much matter. Not recommended. (T. Rich)
