Reveling in chickdom and slice-of-life indie flick tang, Committed is an introspective female-empowerment comedy about an abandoned bride (played by an effervescent Heather Graham) tracking her runaway husband (Luke Wilson) through Texas, doggedly determined to save her marriage come hell or high water. Overly pleased with its own quirkiness and cast of eccentrics, the film (director Lisa Krueger wrote the screenplay during a divorce) unintentionally makes it hard to get behind the heroine's re-evaluating journey because the girl is such a flake--like a crazy aunt you might get a kick out of seeing on holidays and at weddings, but don't really want to be a major part of your life. Not a necessary purchase. (R. Blackwelder)
