Despite the literary pretensions of writer/director Tim McCann's debut feature (his struggling hero, Nick Adams, is named after a Hemingway alter ego), this powerful drama cuts right to the groin of male insecurity. While Nick's (Michael Rodrick) away, his girlfriend Mary is apparently raped by one of his friends (I say "apparently" because the story is purposefully unclear on this point, generating much of the film's tension). While Nick's girlfriend and his "friend" both want to just "let it go," Nick craves revenge...only things don't turn out quite the way they would in a John Wayne movie. A kind of Hitchcockian Friends, this indie film festival award winner is strongly recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
