In yet another baseball movie for kids, Friends star Matt Leblanc stars as down-on-his-luck minor league pitcher Jack Cooper. With the team predictably in the toilet when it comes to the win/lose column, someone gets the bright idea to get a new mascot. Enter Ed, a chimpanzee who is really a kid in a monkey suit. Turns out that the simian can play ball as well as perform predictably banal antics. The upshot is a family-friendly comedy that is actually less funny than a mediocre sitcom. Not surprisingly, this monkey did little business ($4 million) at the boxoffice. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
