Part of the Kids at Kerrisdale series, this video looks like a half-hour after-school special, but is really an entertaining peek at new science and technology. A group of teenage friends are working on a science project on Global Positioning Systems (GPS), when their transmitting device is stolen and one of the girls kidnapped by the notorious Fruit Gang. When local police aren't too much help, it's up to the kids to act, and they make successful use of the Internet and other communications technology. This video is primarily entertainment and so it's not chock-full of vocabulary or theory, but the story hinges on the presentation of educational facts. The acting and production values are surprisingly good, and the quick pace will keep students far more interested than a talking head discussing dry techno-facts. Recommended. Aud: I, J, H. (E. Gieschen)
