The list is endless--Bugsy, Reservoir Dogs, Good Fellas, Casino, Pulp Fiction, Donnie Brasco--and growing. Exploring the ‘90's Hollywood mob scene, Gene Mitchell's directorial debut attempts to emulate Reservoir Dogs by adding quirky characters and punchy dialogue. But Mitchell aimed too high, and his pretensions seem to mock the characters, rather than reveal them. It's as if he's trying to make a "hip" movie but isn't mature enough to realize the character's, the script's or his own limitations. Following four wiseguys who plan to whack their crime boss (Keith David) but discover that one of them is in league with the police, Flipping is best flipped off. Not recommended. (L. Russo)
