For the first time since his breakthrough feature, a woman is at the center of a Spike Lee film. Theresa Randle has your number as an aspiring actress who accepts a job as a phone sex operator. She comes for the money, but gets hung up on the fantasy (and how likely is that?). This was one of Spike's least-regarded films, but the prurient subject matter should keep patrons dialing it up. Quentin Tarantino, Madonna, Richard Belzer and especially the usually reliable John Turturro are wasted in distracting cameos. An optional purchase. (K. Lee Benson)
