Dominque Swain (Lolita) stars as Andrea, an 18-year-old high-school senior who (in running voice-over narration) laments that she seems "destined to enter college with a well-preserved hymen." So, for a little change of pace, comes a losing-my-virginity movie from a girl's point of view. Even though Andrea is a "good girl" who's been accepted to Brown University, she gets the groupie urge and falls for a local Kurt Cobain-type grunge rocker named Todd Sparrow (Sean Patrick Flanery). Soon she solves her, ah, little problem. Weighty issues like date rape, suicide, and anorexia nervosa get a glancing treatment in this superficial piece that sports, except for its rather unusual distaff take, a strictly been-there-done-that feel. Not recommended. (T. Rich)
