In a really hopeless travesty that only diehard Jackie Chan fans could appreciate, the chop-socky schlockmeister serves up a syrupy variation on his usual comedic action-film antics. Here the Stunt Man plays a rich businessman who meets and falls for a (really) young woman from a fishing village who happens to be visiting Hong Kong in a fruitless search for love. Plenty of the usual silly fight scenes abound, but this time out Jackie gets more in touch with his romantic side. While the DVD includes a letterboxed (as well as "full-screen") version of the film, along with English subtitles, the tape features a panned-and-scanned format that severely crops a number of scenes. Plus, the awful Americanized dubbing presents a textbook case against the practice. Not only don't the lip movements even remotely match, Chan doesn't even dub his own voice. Unless demand drives purchase, this is not recommended. (T. Rich)
