From the makers of Strawberry and Chocolate comes this romantic comedy (first released on video in 1998) about the much-anticipated reunion of a famous diva with her first love at a celebration in her honor. Mixing screwball humor with political satire, the film explores the theme of wasted opportunity, while poking fun at both romantic foibles and Cuban bureaucrats. However, despite some decent performances, the implausible storyline and facetious tone (not to mention the endless repetition of the title song) ultimately tip this pretty much featureless (trailer, filmographies) disc into the not a necessary purchase category.
