For aspiring hero Hercules, Hades and the Hydra were nothing compared to the horrors and humiliations of high school in this collection of three episodes from the popular animated TV series based on the hit animated film. Hercules's mentor Phil and his beloved wife Meg scroll through his yearbook (it is an actual scroll) and relive episodes from "Wonder Boy's" awkward teen years. Hercules tries not to act like "the new guy," but he clumsily runs afoul of the "Greek chic elite." With a little help from his friends, including Icarus (a too-manic sounding French Stewart from Third Rock From the Sun) and misanthrope Cassandra (Sandra Bernhard), he learns what kind of hero he wants to be and that it isn't important what other people think. The animation is B-team Disney, but the writing is clever and the stellar voice cast boasts Tate Donovan, Susan Egan, James Woods, Paul Shaffer, Bobcat Goldthwait and Matt Frewer reprising their movie roles. One episode features Eric Stoltz, hilarious as the self-proclaimed Winged Avenger, who narrates his every move. It doesn't quite go the distance, but, as narrator Robert Stack notes, there are plenty of "teen shenanigans" for young viewers to "get jiggy with." An optional purchase. (K. Lee Benson)
