"Imagine Tex Avery on acid, and you're ready for Bill Plympton's I Married a Strange Person..." wrote Variety. It's hard to improve on that description of the weird, over-the-top pencil-sketch animation style of the twisted but ingenious Plympton. A pair of copulating ducks kick things off when they crash into a newlywed couple's satellite dish, sending a wayward signal down to the bridegroom that causes a growth on his neck and a newfound ability to turn his fantasies into reality. A television exec, a Vegas comedian, and an Army colonel all covet his power for their own purposes, but the poor guy's wife just wants to get back the man she married. Full of off-the-wall sexual imagery, clever visual analogies, silly musical numbers, and lots more, this is a hilariously sick smorgasbord that's bound to satisfy some viewers and incense others. While definitely not for the kiddies, this is recommended for adventurous collections. (T. Rich)
