Immortality

Released theatrically under the inscrutable title The Wisdom of Crocodiles, this modern vampire drama features Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) as a medical researcher whose taste for blood is literally a lust for love. In fact, he keeps killing his girlfriends in order to drain the amour from their bodies that he so desperately needs. As if this new twist on an age-old theme weren't hard enough to swallow, Law's character also freely indulges in a cat-and-mouse game with a detective who is investigating him. Although fairly well shot, there is little to care about in this boring bloodsucker's predicament. Not recommended. (T. Rich)
