Infinity

This true love story about Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman (actor-director Matthew Broderick), the physicist who helped create the A-bomb, and his dying wife Arline (Patricia Arquette) lacks chemistry. The relationship between the two isn't properly developed in the beginning, so when Arline dies after a long battle with tuberculosis, it's hard to care (a shame, since the real story is so touching). When Arline was first diagnosed with tuberculosis, Feynman married her despite his family's fear for his own health and happiness. Yet Broderick and Arquette can't seem to muster up the passion, and the film languishes. Moreover, Feynman's work is merely a subplot. Perhaps writer Patricia Broderick was afraid to explore an area so sensitive to a 90's, war-free audience. (L. Russo)
