Sir Walter Scott gets the big little screen treatment in this reasonably entertaining adaptation of the 12th-century tale of a Saxon knight (played by Steven Waddington) who rescues damsels in distress, aids persecuted Jews, and clashes swords with Norman scum. Not as effective as A&E's last major mini-series--the excellent Pride and Prejudice--this medieval potboiler should, nevertheless, appeal to a broader audience with its emphasis on thwarted love and fights for honor (a.k.a. sex and violence).
