On the night before his wedding, a bespectacled professor (Timothy Hutton) meets (actually their taxicabs collide) a beautiful, unhappily married woman (Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Il Postino) and they gradually work their way toward discovering the true meaning of love--but not before the script puts them through a series of hackneyed comical misunderstandings. Primarily noteworthy as another sad example of the fallen career of Timothy Hutton, this lame romantic comedy adds one more forgettable entry to the former Oscar-winning actor's (for Ordinary People) very spotty filmography. Not recommended. (T. Rich)
