Directed by five-time Emmy-award winning director Michael Rhodes (Christy), this filmed two-person/one-goat stage play, written by Sister Esther Forrest, stars Therese Zamenek as an elderly Jewish woman from Bethlehem who finds, in her stable, a Roman soldier (David Haig) wrapped in swaddling hay. Trading turgid dialogue over Caesar's vs. God's power, the pair awkwardly debate the merits of Jewish theology and Roman political dogma for a bit, before the soldier storms off, only to return bearing some very good news, indeed: in a neighboring stable, a savior has been born. I won't reveal Keeper of the Peace's big plot twist finale (except to say that it's hackneyed and unbelievable). Very optional, especially considering the high price. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
