This sword and sorcery epic gives new meaning to the words "heavy metal." Kevin Sorbo (TV's phenomenally popular Hercules) swings a mean double axe as Kull from Atlantis, a former pirate who is named king of Valusia. This does not sit well with plotting princes or Kull's new bride (Tia Carrere), whom he discovers is really a 3,000 year-old witch. ("She said she was 19," our clueless hero protests.) Sorbo enjoys an immense following, and they'll no doubt relish seeing him mostly shirtless and taking no prisoners. To his credit, he is more at ease in front of the camera than Arnold, and unlike, say, Fabio, he seems to get the joke. Kull was created by Robert E. Howard, subject of the highly recommended bio-pic, The Whole Wide World [VL-9/97]. Optional. (K. Lee Benson)
