Lisa Picard (Laura Kirk) is a struggling New York actress who has had her 15 minutes and just doesn't realize it yet--nor does the inept documentary-maker who follows her around waiting to capture her big break on film. Meanwhile, much to Lisa's chagrin, her wildly untalented gay best friend (Nat DeWolf, who co-wrote this tongue-in-cheek mockumentary with Kirk) puts on a one-man show about homophobia in a skid row theater, and soon has Charlie Sheen and Spike Lee (playing themselves) knocking down his door for the movie rights. Directed by Griffin Dunne (who plays the unseen filmmaker recording Lisa's life), Lisa Picard Is Famous is built around a whimsically sardonic concept and offers some good laughs--but like most mockumentaries, the comedy is hit and miss and not particularly memorable. Celebrity spotters will enjoy the dozens of cameos, including Sandra Bullock, Carrie Fisher, Melissa Gilbert, Buck Henry and Mira Sorvino. Optional. (R. Blackwelder)
