After a 21-year-old New Yorker named Syd, who's been in self-destructive mode since his girlfriend London dumped him, crashes a party at his ex's apartment and takes up residence in her bathroom, he spends the night snorting coke, gulping down booze, and shooting the breeze about love, sex, art, and faith with both his newly-met bar friend Bateman (a 40-year-old Englishman) and the occasional guest who needs to use the facilities. First-time filmmaker Hunter Richards apparently believes that too-hip-for-the-room behavior is best represented by incessant scatological language and talking about God while sitting on the toilet. Chris Evans and Jessica Biel, two performers better known for their sculpted physiques than their dramatic skills, play Syd and London (and not very well), while Jason Statham as Bateman spits his lines out with such contempt that he seems like a refugee from a community theater production of Richard III. Not recommended. [Note: DVD extras include audio commentary by writer-director Hunter Richards and associate producer Ross Alan Weinberg, a nine-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, four deleted scenes (15 min.), and trailers. Bottom line: a solid extras package for a bad film.] (P. Hall)
