Me & Will

Written, produced and directed by stars Sherrie Rose and Melissa Behr, this feature shows what might have happened had women directed biker movies in the ‘60s. Jane (a.k.a. Me) and Will are hard-bitten gals who meet in rehab and bond. They share a desire to escape their present situations and a mutual love for the film Easy Rider. That's about all one needs to know to set the stage for this distaff biker/road trip movie (although familiarity with Thelma & Louise helps), in which the titular duo set off on an odd quest--to see the motorcycle Peter Fonda rode in Easy Rider. En route they encounter adversity, not surprisingly in the form of man trouble. Eventually, Jane encounters the ultimate in man trouble from her junkie boyfriend in a strange sequence set at the home of Will's aging hippie father. Lines like "Why does life have to feel like 9th grade?" undercut the often heavy mood, but perhaps contribute to the cult favorite feel this video exudes. Although a little heavy on the profanity, this is a good optional choice that slyly pays a delicious homage to the original Easy Rider. Optional. (M. Tribby)
