Basically a comic book version of Melville's classic, this "read-along still-animation video classic" combines voice-over narration with dialogue bubbles to offer an abbreviated version of the legendary whale tale. Unexceptional graphics and fluctuating audio (which required tracking adjustments) make this a poor choice for library collections regardless of its seemingly natural fit. Other titles in the "read-along" series include: Treasure Island, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and A Christmas Carol. Not recommended. Aud: I, P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
