When a retiring old Santa Claus mistakenly touches a shoplifter named Floyd (Arnold Pinnock), he passes the magic of Christmas into the thief, making a reluctant Floyd the jolly new wearer of the red suit (in a plot reminiscent of The Santa Clause). Mr. Tuttle (Dabney Coleman), a nasty efficiency expert and CEO of the North Pole, thinks the new guy stinks and sets about to prove his case. Big time office politics ensue. When Floyd discovers his gift could help him win his estranged 10-year-old daughter back, however, Santa practices a little self-help magic of his own. Good production values, cheesy special effects and nice made-for-TV type acting, make this comfort-food-level viewing for holiday couch potatoes. Fuzzily recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
