Taking that one famous dinner episode from Eddie Murphy's 1996 Nutty Professor remake--in which he hammed it up as several members of Sherman Klump's obnoxious, jumbo family--and stretching it out for 110 grating, tediously unfunny minutes, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps is the kind of insultingly cliché-driven crapola Hollywood studios happily crank out when they absolutely know that suckers will be standing in line for tickets. Dumpster-diving for its endless supply of boorishly crude penis jokes, denture jokes, anal bestiality jokes and other cheap laughs for simple folk, this sequel limps through a contrived plot about a youth formula gone wrong, a lab accident resurrection of Sherman's odious alter ego, and Sherman's clumsy romancing of a genetic physicist played by--get this!--Janet Jackson. How many former stand-up comedians dressed in rubber fat lady suits with saggy boobs do we have to endure before people realize this kind of comedy just isn't funny enough to carry a movie? Consider for purchase due to the sell-through price and popularity, but don't waste your own time watching this one. (R. Blackwelder)
