Question: How do you make car tires from scratch? (Hint: you'll need lots of the handyman's secret weapon--a.k.a. duct tape--and, of course, several pairs of sneakers). In this compilation of skits from the Canadian comedy hit The Red Green Show, the men from Possum Lodge explore man's first love: cars. "Handyman Corner" projects run the nonsensical gamut, from adding a skylight to your van (you'll need a blow torch and a spare aquarium) to turning two dinged-up cars into one--admittedly wide and awkward to drive--automobile (lots of duct tape here). Uncle Red (Steve Smith) dispenses wisdom on auto-related topics, various guests share emotional recollections in the "Auto Biography" segments, and the Possum Lodge guys answer reader mail in, unfortunately, the only way they know how: as men. A little long (69 minutes of car humor is, unless you think the Corvair is the pinnacle of western culture, a bit much), Of Cars and Men is, nevertheless, chockfull of genuine belly laughs (in fact, even Anne, my wife, thought it was hilarious; sometimes--I felt--at inappropriate moments). Highly recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
